Takeout Roulette does not currently earn affiliate commission on any order you place. No affiliate tracking, no link rewriting, no referral codes are active on the site today.
This page explains how that relationship will work when — and only when — we switch it on, so you know what to expect. We will update this page (and the “last updated” date at the top) before any affiliate link goes live.
What an affiliate link is
Once affiliate tracking is switched on, when you click the “Order on Just Eat” (or another partner) button, the link will pass through an affiliate network on the way to the partner’s website. The network attaches a tracking identifier so that, if you order, the partner pays a small percentage of the order value back to us. It’s how we plan to fund the site.
What it doesn’t change
- You don’t pay any more. The commission comes out of the partner’s margin, not an extra charge on your order.
- The wheel is honest. Every restaurant in the draw has an equal chance of winning. Commission rate has no effect on who appears on the wheel, what slice size they get, or how likely they are to be picked.
- No paid placement.A restaurant can’t pay to appear more often on Takeout Roulette. We don’t take sponsored listings of any kind.
Our current partners
The wheel currently routes orders to Just Eat via their public consumer catalogue. We’re working towards also supporting Deliveroo and Uber Eats as partners.
We have applied to join affiliate networks that carry these delivery platforms in the UK, but are not currently approved or active with any of them. That means clicks from this site go directly to the delivery partner with no tracking parameters or rewriter in the middle.
Why we’re telling you this
The UK Advertising Standards Authority’s CAP Code (Section 2, “Recognition of marketing communications”) and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 require any commercial relationship with a retailer to be clearly disclosed. Showing this page linked from every footer is how we meet that bar — so you always know the relationship before you click a partner link.
How you’ll be able to avoid the affiliate link
When we do switch affiliate tracking on, you’ll be able to:
- Note the restaurant name the wheel chose, then go to the delivery partner’s site directly and search for it.
- Install a browser extension that blocks affiliate scripts (e.g. uBlock Origin with appropriate filter lists).
- Use the opt-out provided by whichever affiliate network we end up partnering with (link will be listed here once active).
Either way, the restaurant the wheel picks is the restaurant you get. Nothing about the draw changes based on whether you ultimately order via an affiliate link or not.
Changes
